Baysox Partner With Chesapeake Bay Trust To Raise Funds

The Bowie Baysox have partnered with the Chesapeake Bay Trust to help fund non-profit projects to improve the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed region this season.  The Baysox have invited organizations that work with the Trust to participate in fundraisers every Friday night at Prince George’s Stadium this season.  To mark the occasion, the Baysox will take the field in new alternate jerseys featuring an alternate logo every Friday night.

Baysox General Manager Brian Shallcross is excited to unveil the partnership.  “The Chesapeake Bay is an important component to life in Maryland,” Shallcross said.  “We are very pleased to work with the Chesapeake Bay Trust to promote environmental stewardship, so that future generations can continue to enjoy the Bay’s many benefits.”

The Baysox will unveil the alternate logo at a special ceremony during the Baysox Free Family FunFest at the stadium Saturday, March 26, at noon.  Chesapeake Bay Trust Director of Communications and Development Molly Alton Mullins will also speak at the ceremony.

“The Chesapeake Bay Trust is pleased to partner with the Bowie Baysox and link together two great Maryland passions: baseball and the Bay,” said Mullins. “We look forward to working with the Baysox during the 2011 season and appreciate their commitment to our work to fund great projects and programs to restore the Chesapeake Bay.”
