The Pajama Game, a tale of labor troubles and love among the workers at a sleepwear factory, takes center stage at Crofton Middle School during the spring musical production presented by the school’s Parent Teacher Organization.
The 1950s classic story features David Ossman as Sid Sorokin, the handsome new factory supervisor who falls for worker Babe Williams played by Lucy Bobbin. Despite being on opposite sides of a pajama factory labor and wage dispute, their love story unfolds among a diverse and unpredictable cast of characters. Mr. Hasler, the factory boss, is played by Timothy Kandra, and Andrea Sturgis will be Hasler’s plucky secretary Gladys. Prez, the union leader, is portrayed by Jay Lee. Kyle Hefner plays Vernon Hines, the factory’s overbearing but loveable time manager. The show boasts four major full-cast musical dance production numbers.
This year marks the third that Ossman, Bobbin, and Sturgis have appeared in the CMS musical. They will lead a cast of more than 100 students who are taking part in the production as cast and crew. The PTO welcomes back Vicki Smith as director and choreographer and Sean Lane as the show’s musical director. The group has been working since late fall on the play, which is always a spring highlight in the Crofton community. Many local businesses have contributed to the show effort with program ads, donations, and other sponsorships.
The musical, staged at Crofton Middle School, 2301 Davidsonville Road, Crofton, runs from April 1-10, 2011, with 7pm performances on Fridays and Saturdays and 2pm matinees on Sundays. Tickets are date-specific and seating is reserved.
