West Side Story Comes To Broadneck

Broadneck High School students will present Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim’s beloved American musical, West Side Story, on March 10, 7 PM, March 11, 7 PM, and March 12, 2:00PM and 7:00 PM.

The show, written by Arthur Laurents, is based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet but set in the 1950’s in New York City, focusing on the two neighborhood gangs, the Sharks and the Jets. The show is directed by Emily Cory, with music direction by Broadneck High School alum and recent Furman University graduate Andrew Lincoln, and choreographed by Vanessa Pearson. Tickets are $8 for students and seniors and $10 general admission. To reserve tickets, email [email protected]. Tickets will also be available at the door, while supplies last. Broadneck High School is located at 1265 Green Holly Drive in Annapolis.

The show features Luke Skinker as Tony, Paige Miller as Maria, Va’a Niumatalolo as Bernardo and Hayley White as Anita. Mark Bickley plays the role of Riff, Chris Hudson as Action, Sammy Brown as A-Rab, and Sean McCoy appears as Chino. Thirty four other students round out the cast of Sharks and Jets, with Mark Hollerbach as Officer Krupke and cameo appearances by BHS teachers as Doc and Lt. Shrank.
