The Maryland Jockey Club said tickets for the 2011 Preakness public infield are on sale.The tickets for the 136th running of the Preakness Stakes on May 21 went on sale Tuesday. Tickets are $40 in advance, and $50 starting May 16.The 2011 Preakness InfieldFEST will feature live music on a two stages as well as other entertainment for the day.Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster or the Preakness ticket sales office.The Preakness, which is the second leg of horse racing’s triple crown, will be held May 21.
MD State Workers Approve 3-Year Contract. Maryland state workers have ratified a three-year contract that includes guaranteed pay raises and an end to furloughs. Members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees voted 89 percent in favor of the contract Wednesday. The contract takes effect July 1.The contract includes a $750 bonus, guaranteed pay raises for the next three years and a salary-grade increase in 2014. The contract also ends the unpaid furloughs employees weathered during the past three years. Gov. Martin O’Malley praised the contract’s approval Wednesday.

Ravens-Steelers Raffle To Help Youth Program. Baltimore kicked off its yearly Youth Works Summer Job Campaign on Wednesday, which helps put teens to work in the summer.The program gives kids a chance to earn money and learn what having a job means.”It gives me the youth experience a young teen needs. … It really helps you become an adult,” program participant Tyrone Turner said.”The kids do a great job. We have a lot of supervision for them. We train them on how to work together,” said Jeffrey Post, who works for Martins, which participates in the program.
