Baysox To Host National Anthem Auditions.  Patriotic singers mark your calendars, the Bowie Baysox is set to host auditions for the national anthem in March.The Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles has scheduled live auditions at Prince George’s Stadium on March 12. Stadium gates open for registration at 9 a.m. and auditions begin at 9:30 a.m.Singers can audition for an opportunity to sing the national anthem before one of 71 Baysox home games this year.Every participant must register and auditions are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. The auditions are held rain or shine and reservations for audition times are not accepted. All auditions must be done in person — no CDs, cassettes or videos are accepted for review.

ICC Days Closer To Opening. Federal and Maryland officials are celebrating the ceremonial opening of the first part of Maryland’s Intercounty Connector.Gov. Martin O’Malley and U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood were among dignitaries who attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday morning in Gaithersburg.”They’re connecting people with school, with work, with family and friends. A generation ago, our parents and grandparents followed the same roadmap to prosperity when they planned and paved the interstate highway system, and that’s exactly what we’re doing for the next generation,” LaHood said.

Not Again! Snow Coats Maryland Roads. The snow ended early Tuesday morning, but the headache has just begun as the first significant snowfall in February hit Maryland, covering local roads and creating dicey driving conditions.WBAL-TV 11 Insta-Weather PLUS meteorologist Tony Pann said about 3.5 inches of snow fell Monday night and Tuesday morning on Baltimore’s TV Hill, with about 5 inches recorded in Westminster. Across the state line, about 6.5 inches of snow fell in York, Pa., Pann said.

Bad News For Drivers: Gas Prices Keep Climbing. Gas prices continue to climb, with consumers spending nearly 50 cents per gallon more than this time last year.Average retail gasoline prices in Baltimore have risen 3.0 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.09 per gallon Sunday. This compares with the national average that has increased 4.1 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.16 per gallon, according to gasoline price website BaltimoreGasPrices.com.
