Mayor’s Budget Road Show

Mayor Joshua J. Cohen announces two public forums early next month where he will offer a budget preview ahead of his formal presentation of the fiscal year 2012 budget to the City Council on Monday, March 14.

The Mayor, City Manager Michael Mallinoff and Budget Director Bruce Miller will host the discussions on March 1 and 2. They will focus on, among other things, funding priorities, fees and the financial challenges facing the City going ahead.

The events will be held at:

Mount Olive Community Life Center, 2 Hicks Avenue, Tuesday, March 1, 7:30 p.m.

Georgetown East Elementary School, 111 Dogwood Road, Wednesday, March 2, 7:30 p.m.

“Last year, we right-sized our budget by cutting 13 percent from the City’s budget – the biggest cut of any city in Maryland,” Mayor Cohen said. “Our financial situation has stabilized, but the City has some difficult financial decisions ahead to stay on the right path. The input from residents will be crucial in providing guidance on how we deliver top-notch services effectively.”
