Get Bald At Fado & O’Loughlin’s

Or at least support bald.

On March 17, 2000, reinsurance executives John Bender, Tim Kenny and Enda McDonnell turned their industry’s St. Patrick’s Day party into a head-shaving event to benefit kids with cancer. Their 20 “shavee” recruits planned to raise “$17,000 on the 17th.” Instead, they raised over $104,000!

The movement quickly grew into the world’s largest volunteer-driven fundraising program for childhood cancer research, and today the St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.

Two local businesses will be participating this year. Fado Irish Pub (March 13th) in Annapolis and O’Loughlin’s Restaurant (March 6th) in Arnold will  be hosting events this year!

Are you up for the challenge to shave your head? Or maybe you can offer a donation to fight childhood cancer. In either case, be sure to show up at Fado or O’Loughlins and have a beer and cheer on the shavees!

To make a donation, check out the dates and times, or to see who’s gonna be bald soon–here is a link to the area participating locations.
