Attempted Carjacking In Lothian

On 2-12-11, at 6:28 p.m., officers responded to the Subway located at 5408 Southern Maryland Boulevard in Lothian for a report of an attempted car jacking that had just occurred.

The victim told responding officers that a person he knew as Conley Marvin Bell, and a female known only as “Charity”, approached him in the parking lot of the Subway.  The three were engaging in conversation when the male suspect grabbed him from behind and placed a knife to his throat demanding that he take him and his girlfriend anywhere they wanted to go.

As the suspects and victim entered the vehicle, the victim grabbed the keys and fled. Both suspects then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.  Officers searched the immediate area and were unable to locate either suspect.

The victim said the suspect was his neighbor and that he resided on Flanders Lane in Lothian.  Officers were enroute to check the Flanders Lane address when they encountered both suspects on Sands Road.  Both were arrested and transported to Southern District Station.
