15 County Educators Names As Semi-Finalists

Fifteen educators from all levels of the public school system were named today as semifinalists for the 2011 Anne Arundel County Teacher of the Year award. Eight of the educators are elementary school teachers, two teach middle school, four teach at the high school level, and one works in the system’s Community-Based Services division.

The semifinalists are:

● Bryce Bennie, North County High School
● Kimberly Chesek, Central Elementary School
● Laura Groo, Southern Middle School
● Eric Hare, Solley Elementary School
● Robyn Healy, Marley Elementary School
● Courtney Hoffberger, Arundel High School
● Danny Imwold, Northeast High School
● Gina Lenhart, Glen Burnie Park Elementary School
● Julie Maine, Waugh Chapel Elementary School
● Deborah Estelle Marcus, Marley Glen School
● Daniel McElwain, George Fox Middle School
● Gina Mullin, Benfield Elementary School
● Daniel Pogonowski, Annapolis High School
● Jennifer Schnepp, Piney Orchard Elementary School
● Marjorie Smith, Arnold Elementary School

A record group of 55 Anne Arundel County teachers will be honored at the 25th annual Excellence in Education banquet at the BWI Marriott in Linthicum on March 29.
