Residents of the Light House shelter in Annapolis were treated to a special dinner prepared and served by members of the Girl Scout Troop#1609 from Davidsonville in Anne Arundel County.

Troop #1609, made up of young girls from South River High School and Central Middle School, prepared the menu which consisted of baked chicken, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, fruit salad, apple sauce and ice cream for dessert.

As part of a community service project, Troop #1609, not only prepared and served the dinner but also spent time talking with the residents. According to Rebecca Terneus, Ambassador for Troop #1609 and a junior at South River High School, “some of us are doing this to earn our community service bar but most of us are doing this because we really enjoy it.”

More individuals and families than ever before are coming to the Light House for help. As a result of the increase in the number of people in need the Light House serves, especially with the addition of 35 winter relief beds, there is an urgent need for items such as Grocery Items, Bagged Lunches and Casseroles.
