Six Flags Seeking Live & Local Bands To Perform

Six Flags America, Maryland’s premier destination for family fun and thrills, is seeking upbeat, talented bands to perform for theme park guests, beginning Saturday, April 16.  Kicking off Six Flags America’s popular Live & Local series for the 2011 season, one band will be selected to perform each day during the first 10 days of the theme park’s new season, through Monday, April 25.  Additional bands will be invited to play throughout the theme park season.

“At Six Flags America, our Live & Local series offers bands a unique opportunity to showcase their talents,” said Tim Wiesemann, Six Flags America’s Entertainment Manager. “It is a highly popular concert series, featuring some of the very best up and coming artists.”

Live & Local concerts provide a unique opportunity for unsigned bands (from the local DC and Baltimore areas and beyond) to play to an enthusiastic audience in a positive, family-friendly theme park environment, gaining exposure and the potential of thousands of new fans. There is no monetary compensation for performances; bands will receive free park tickets and discount meal vouchers.

All music styles from jazz to reggae, R&B to Alternative, and classic rock to country are welcome. Bands should review the Six Flags America Events Page (sixflags.com/America) for Frequently Asked Questions and information about submitting their acts for consideration electronically. Bands wishing to submit press kits and sample CDs may send them to P.O Box 4210, Largo MD 20775, attn: Six Flags America Entertainment Department. Live & Local concerts are held throughout the season, though bands wishing to be considered for spring dates must submit their information before Friday, April 1.

Six Flags America is conveniently located just 15 minutes west of Annapolis, 20 minutes east of Washington, DC, and 40 minutes south of Baltimore.  The park is open daily for Spring Break from Saturday, April 16 through Monday, April 25, and then weekends in April and May. Daily operations resume Memorial Day Weekend. For park hours and a calendar of events, visit sixflags.com/America.
