Orioles Owner Submits Bid To Buy Rosecroft, Bring Slots. Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos has submitted a bid to buy the shuttered Rosecroft Raceway in Prince George’s County and revive the effort to allow slot machines there. Angelos’ bid was outlined in documents filed in bankruptcy court this week. It has the support of Rosecroft’s owners and the bankruptcy trustee and needs to be approved by the court. Under his proposal, Angelos would pay $9 million in cash plus another $5 million if slots are authorized in Prince George’s County and a casino is operational at Rosecroft by Dec. 1, 2012.

Mother Nature To Clean Up Fish Kills. Maryland Department of the Environment officials said about 2 million dead fish have washed onto the shores south of the Bay Bridge over the past week, but they’re already starting to go away on their own.MDE officials said the small fish, which are mainly spots and croakers, likely died due to a steeper than usual drop in the temperature of the Chesapeake Bay in December.

Anne Arundel County Schools Move To Offer Healthier Lunch Options. A local school district said it’s committed to counting calories and fat grams to help keep its students healthy.School systems and people pushing schools for change have been on a crusade for healthier choices for students for breakfast and lunch.School nutritionists in Anne Arundel County said they’re making progress, but admitted there’s still room for improvement.”Each lunch has five different food groups offered. We have protein, we have grains, fruits, vegetables and milk,” said Jodi Risse of the Anne Arundel County School and Nutrition Services.

Police: Woman Raped Twice By Same Man.  Montgomery County police said a woman who was raped in her apartment in June has been attacked again.Officers said they believe the attacker is the same man who raped an elderly woman in a nearby senior facility. The latest crime occurred at about 1 a.m. Wednesday in Germantown. The 68-year-old woman told police she was in her bed when a man entered her apartment and sexually assaulted her. The same woman was raped in her apartment on June 19, police said. She told officers that the same man carried out both attacks.
