Police: Federal Officer Interrupts Robbery In Anne Arundel County. An off-duty federal officer helped stop a convenience store robbery Sunday night, according to Anne Arundel County police.A teenager accused of trying to hold up the store is in custody.The incident occurred just after 8 p.m. at “E Z Bee,” located in the 700 block of Church Street in Brooklyn Park.Officers said a man entered the store, placed a bandanna over his face and pointed a handgun at the clerk.A deputy U.S. marshal, who was preparing to leave the business, pulled his handgun and told the culprit to drop his gun, investigators said.

MDE: Fish Kill Caused By Cold Stress. The Maryland Department of the Environment said that tens of thousands of small fish have died in the Chesapeake Bay due to the stress of the cold water.MDE spokeswoman Dawn Stolzfus said reports of a fish kill started coming in last week from Calvert County and Kent Island.

Man Accused In Teen’s Beating Allowed To Go To Israel. A 23-year-old man accused of assaulting a Baltimore teen was granted permission Monday by a judge to fly to Israel for vacation.Eli Werdesheim has dual citizenship with Israel and had purchased a ticket to leave on Monday night for vacation with his fiancee.Werdesheim is accused of beating a 15-year-old black boy in the head with a radio on Nov. 19 as the teen walked along Fallstaff Road in northwest Baltimore.Werdesheim denied the allegations, claiming he was investigating suspicious activity. He said he acted in self defense during the incident, where he was working as a volunteer for the citizens on patrol group Shomrim.

Mega Millions Jackpot Climbs To $330 Million.  Lottery officials said Monday that, due to overwhelming sales over the weekend, the Mega Millions jackpot has climbed to $330 million.The updated jackpot figure — with the next drawing set for Tuesday night — is the third-highest prize in the game’s history. The winning numbers Friday were 10, 12, 13, 35, 56, and the Mega Ball was 9. Maryland Lottery officials said a second-tier, $250,000 ticket was sold in Hagerstown.In March 2007, the jackpot grew to a record $390 million before winning tickets were sold in both New Jersey and Georgia.The biggest jackpot win in Maryland, $183 million, was won in June 2003 by a Baltimore County woman, according to Maryland Lottery officials.
