Rogue Car Crashes Into Anne Arundel Home.  The Mudge family in Anne Arundel County returned home Wednesday after a car drove through their house early Monday morning.Homeowner Patrick Mudge said the incident happened about 2:30 a.m.”We woke up to the car crashing into the front of the house,” he said.The homeowners said they are furious about what led up to the crash. They just moved to the house three weeks prior to the crash.Police said one officer noticed a vehicle committing a traffic violation, on the Mudge family’s street.The officer tried to pull the driver over but he didn’t stop, police said. Authorities said the rogue driver also clipped another vehicle, and then ‘spun out’ into the Mudges’ yard, driving right through the family’s garage.

Civility ruled the first day of the 2011 session of the Maryland General Assembly, and legislators have their hands full.A large budget deficit and significant changes regarding social issues are on the table.Newly elected Baltimore Delegate Keiffer Mitchell, with his family in tow, successfully navigated through a throng of special interests groups to find his seat in the House chamber.The freshman’s first bill is legislation to legally recognize same-sex marriage in Maryland.”The time is now. If Maryland was founded on tolerance, we’ve got to continue that tradition,” said Mitchell, a Democrat.

National Spotlight Shines On Two MD Teachers. Two Maryland schoolteachers have found themselves in the national spotlight in recognition of strides they’ve taken in the classroom.McKinley Broome, a Baltimore County fourth-grade teacher, was surprised Wednesday to learn that he was getting a $25,000 check as part of the national Milken Foundation Award, which honors exceptional educators.
