UPDATE 05:26 pm 01/20/2011: From the Annapolis Fire Department:
At 1:37 p.m. this afternoon, emergency units from the Annapolis and United States Naval Academy Fire Departments responded to the intersection of King George and Hanover Streets in Annapolis, Maryland to assist with what was reported as a suspicious package. Upon arrival, Annapolis Fire Department Bomb Technicians found a package sitting on the ground on Hanover Street, outside of Gate 3 of the United States Naval Academy. Hanover Street and a portion of Maryland Avenue were closed while bomb technicians investigated. After further investigation, bomb technicians determined that the package was only a tool box full of tools. Units became available at 3:36 p.m. There is no additional information to report at this time.

Several buildings at the U.S. Naval Academy were evacuated for nearly two hours Wednesday afternoon after a suspicious package was found just outside of the downtown Annapolis campus, according to a Naval Academy spokeswoman.
The package was found outside of Gate 3 on Maryland Avenue about 1:30 p.m., according to Judy Campbell, a spokeswoman for the Naval Academy. Four buildings were evacuated, including administrative offices and the Naval Academy Club.
