Drugs Possibly A Factor In Fatal Glen Burnie Crash.  Drugs may have contributed to a chain-reaction crash in Glen Burnie Thursday morning that left three people injured and a man dead.Anne Arundel County police said officers and fire officials were called to a collision involving four vehicles in the 600 block of East Ordnance Road at Blades Lane in Glen Burnie at about 7:45 a.m.Police said William Edward Gruber III, 24, was pinned inside the wreckage and pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said drug usage by Gruber may have contributed to the crash, and that Gruber was not licensed to drive.

Security Increased After $150K Theft From Annapolis City Hall. No criminal charges were filed in a case in which more than $150,000 was stolen from the Annapolis Finance Department, but city officials said they have put new security measures in place.The Annapolis Police Department concluded its investigation into the case, Mayor Josh Cohen announced on Thursday.He said during the course of the investigation, a city employee was identified as a person of interest, but the state’s attorney’s office declined to file criminal charges. That person is no longer employed by the city, Cohen said.The theft was reported to police on June 8. The city’s finance director said that a money bag filled with more than $150,000 worth of checks and cash that he locked in the city’s vault the night before was no longer there. He said the vault door was still locked that morning.

Bomb Suspect’s Record Included Robbery, Assault Charges. The Maryland man accused of trying to blow up a military recruiting center in Catonsville has a criminal record dating to 2004 and probably lacked the means to carry out an attack on his own, 11 News has learned.Antonio Martinez, aka Muhammed Hussain, faces charges of attempted murder of federal officers and attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction.He was arrested Wednesday morning after authorities said he tried to detonate a fake bomb outside the Armed Forces Career Center. Martinez wanted to blow up the recruiting center to harm military personnel, authorities said.

Book Bank To Hold Holiday Fair For Kids. For children in the state of Maryland, free books are waiting to be read.The Baltimore Reads book program wants every child to a have book to read, and this weekend there’s a special fair for families, according to 11 News reporter Jennifer Franciotti.The Baltimore Reads Holiday Fair will take place Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Baltimore Reads Book Bank. At the event, kids can find books and holiday gifts for free, or at low prices.The event will also include information about community service projects.The Baltimore Reads Book Bank is tucked inside the Baltimore Sun building at 501 North Calvert St. The sole purpose of the facility is to collect and distribute free books to kids, Franciotti reported.In Baltimore, it’s estimated that only one in 300 kids has even a single book in their home, Franciotti reported, and so the goal of Baltimore Reads is to open a new chapter in their lives.
