USNA Midshipman Arrested After Home Break-In. Police arrested a Navy midshipman they said kicked in a door to a home.Investigators said the midshipman broke down the rear door of a home in the 1400 block of Regent Street just after 1 a.m. Thursday.The man was confronted by the homeowner and ran into nearby woods, where police found him.His name hasn’t been released.In a prepared statement sent to 11 News, the Naval Academy said: “The Naval Academy is cooperating with the Annapolis Police Department in this investigation. The Naval Academy takes all allegations of misconduct seriously and will fully cooperate with local authorities throughout their investigation.

Audit: Half Of Discarded Rape Claims Misclassified.  An audit shows more than half of nearly 100 rape reports that Baltimore police deemed false or baseless have been reclassified as rapes or other sex crimes.The audit was presented Wednesday to a City Council panel. The findings come from a review prompted by The Baltimore Sun that exposed problems in the way police handled sex offense investigations.

4 To Face 400+ Charges In HVAC Thefts. Maryland State Police said four people are facing more than 400 charges in connection with the theft of several HVAC units in Carroll County earlier this year.Police said the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office filed the additional charges on Monday.The suspects, identified as Keith Gibson, 28; Justin Kinzer, 29; John Poutre Jr., 28; and Ashley Brown, all of Westminster, were initially arrested in September. Police said a state trooper interrupted one of the thefts at the Hunter Professional Center in Westminster.

October Car Shipments Up At Port Of Baltimore.  Officials at the Port of Baltimore said a record number of auto shipments for a single month were handled in October. The port said Wednesday that it handled 42,830 cars in October — a 25 percent increase. It also said its auto business for the first 10 months of the year is up 33 percent compared to the first 10 months of 2009.
