Bissett Arrested In Strong Arm Robbery In Edgewater

Corey Bissett Charged with second degree assault
Corey Bisset of Edgewater facing charges of second degree assault, robbery, and theft.

According to Anne Arundel County Police, officers arrested Corey Bissett last night and charged him with robbery, second degree assault and theft.  According to the police report, an 18-year-old male reported that he was skateboarding on Maryland Avenue near Poplar Avenue in Edgewater when a silver truck stopped and two males exited the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle approached, began arguing about the skateboard and subsequently assaulted the victim. After a brief struggle, the suspect, identified as Bissett, took the victim’s skateboard and left the area in the truck. The second person in the truck was not involved and not charged. Bissett was located at his residence and arrested without incident.

Readers will recall that Bissett was the subject of a lot of criticism in July 2010 when he was arrested on various drug charges. At the time, his parents were both running (unsuccessfully) for Countywide political offices.

Bissett is no stranger to Anne Arundel County police. In May of 2010 he was charged with possession of marijuana and ironically was scheduled for a trial on this charge on December 8, 2010.  In July, he was charged with possession and trespassing. His trial for that arrest is scheduled for February 25, 2011. After his arrest last night, he was brought to the Anne Arundel County Detention Center and was subsequently released on bail shortly after being processed. A trial date has not been scheduled.
