Annapolis Chorale Performs Handel’s Messiah at St. Anne’s

Brandie Sutton performs Handel's Messiah in AnnapolisLive Arts Maryland presents a very special weekend of GF Handel’s “Messiah” at historic St. Anne’s Church December 17-19 performed by the Annapolis Chorale and the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Music Director J. Ernest Green.  The nearly perfect acoustics and historic feel of St. Anne’s make it the perfect location to experience this much-loved oratorio.  “Messiah by Candlelight,” Friday, December 17 (8 p.m.), includes Part I of “Messiah” (typically the holiday portion) and the majestic “Hallelujah Chorus” and carols for the season.  Saturday, December 18 (8 p.m.) brings a special treat for true Handel aficionados and anyone who wants to know this work better when the Annapolis Chorale Chamber Chorus performs Part I and rarely heard selections from Parts II and III.   The weekend concludes with a special Sunday afternoon performance on December 19 (3 p.m.) that includes Part 1 of “Messiah,” the “Hallelujah Chorus” and a holiday carol sing-along.  For this year’s “Messiah” performances, Mr. Green welcomes a quartet very special guest artists, soprano Brandie Sutton, mezzo soprano Madeleine Gray, tenor Andrew Owens and baritone Shouvik Mondle, all of whom add beautiful artistry to Handel’s masterpiece.

Live Arts Maryland, J. Ernest Green, Music Director, is one of the region’s largest and most active non-profit arts organizations and is home to the Annapolis Chorale, the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra, the Annapolis Youth Chorus and the St. Anne’s Concert Series.  It offers music education programs for singers of all ages, including the MusicWorks school partnership, a scholarship program for high-school music students and workshops for adults.  The Annapolis Chorale is a resident company of Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and is supported by the Maryland State Arts Council, the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis.
