3 Anne Arundel County Schools Receive Governor’s Award

Anne Arundel County Public Schools have announced that three schools recently won a citation from the Governor and the Board of Public Works.

Three county public schools have been honored for exemplary building maintenance and operations practices. During the December 15, 2010, Board of Public Works meeting, Governor Martin O’Malley, state Treasurer Nancy Kopp, and state Comptroller Peter Franchot presented citations of superior maintenance to the principals of Lake Shore, Odenton, and Tracey’s elementary schools.

“This recognition acknowledges the hard work of the many maintenance and operations staff members who keep our buildings in top condition so that the work of our students and staff shines through,” Superintendent of Schools Kevin M. Maxwell said. “I am proud of the work they do every day for our children.”

Based on inspections of a random sample of schools across all 24 state jurisdictions, the Interagency Committee on School Construction and State Department of General Services recommended the three schools for the distinction. Anne Arundel County Public Schools has consistently fared well on the inspection, with 14 schools being honored in the last four years.
