Violent Night In Anne Arundel County

3 Strong Arm Robberies,Rape Reported

Anne Arundel Police are reporting a very violent night in the county last night. From this morning’s release:

RAPE (LAUREL)

On November 8, 2010, at approximately 7:11 p.m., officers from the Western District responded to the 8100 block of Scenic Meadow Drive in Laurel for a report of a rape.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 23-year-old female victim, who advised that she walked behind an apartment building to throw trash in the dumpster. As she was walking back to the apartment, she observed a male subject standing in the bushes nearby. The suspect suddenly began following the victim, grabbed her and threatened her with a weapon. The suspect then proceeded to sexually assault the victim before fleeing the area on foot. Numerous officers and a K-9 unit canvassed the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division responded to assume responsibility for the investigation. STRONG ARM ROBBERY (GLEN BURNIE)

On November 8, 2010, at approximately 6:48 a.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the intersection of Allan Avenue and Phelps Avenue in Glen Burnie for a report of an assault that occurred.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 14-year-old male victim from Glen Burnie, who stated that he was waiting for a school bus at the intersection when he was approached by a male suspect, who demanded property and proceeded to assault the victim and take his i-Pod Touch. The suspect then fled the area on foot toward Marley Station Road. The victim refused medical attention, but did sustain minor injuries. Several officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
Suspect: White male, approximately 14-17 years old, 5’4”, 150 pounds, wearing a black ski mask, a blue and red plaid jacket and camouflage pants

STRONG ARM ROBBERY (BROOKLYN PARK)

On November 8, 2010, at approximately 9:56 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the area of Townsend Avenue and 1st Street in Brooklyn Park for a report of a strong arm robbery.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 26-year-old female victim, who advised that she was approached by a male subject. A brief confrontation ensued and the suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and fled the scene. The suspect was last seen running with another male suspect on 1st Street from Townsend Avenue. Numerous officers canvassed the vicinity, but were unable to locate the suspects. The victim was uninjured during the incident.

STRONG ARM ROBBERY  (ANNAPOLIS)

On November 8, 2010, at approximately 4:35 p.m., officers from the Southern District responded to the Westfield Annapolis Shopping Mall in Annapolis for a robbery that occurred on the parking lot.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 22-year-old male victim, who stated that he was robbed after he exited the mall near the Pottery Barn store. The victim indicated that he had a bank deposit for his employer and was headed to his vehicle when a male subject approached. The suspect pushed him down, which caused him to drop the deposit. The suspect then punched the victim, took the deposit money and was last seen running toward Bestgate Road. The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment. Several officers and a K-9 unit responded to search for the suspect, but he has not been located at this time.
Suspect: Black male in his mid 20’s, approximately 6’0” with a skinny build, wearing black or blue sweat pants, a blue hooded sweatshirt, large black sunglasses, black gloves and brown shoes
