Poll: Voters Support Slots Near Mall.  Slots at Arundel Mills Mall could go either way, according to the finding of the latest Gonzales Research and Marketing poll released Wednesday.Currently, 48 percent of registered voters in Anne Arundel County support the measure, 45 percent oppose it and 8 percent are still undecided, according to the poll.A yes vote for Question A on Nov. 2 would allow developer David Cordish to proceed with plans to build a casino next to the mall. The casino, called Maryland Live, would have 4,750 slot machines, several high-end restaurants and a 300-seat concert hall.

MD Board Approves Purchase Of Medevac Helicopters. Maryland officials approved a $72 million contract Wednesday to buy six medevac helicopters to replace an aging fleet for the state’s renowned emergency response program, a need highlighted by a helicopter crash two years ago that killed four people. The Maryland Board of Public Works — which includes Gov. Martin O’Malley, Treasurer Nancy Kopp and Comptroller Peter Franchot — voted 3-0 to approve the contract with Agusta Aerospace Corp. The contract includes an option to buy up to six additional helicopters between July 2011 and July 2013.

O’Malley-Ehrlich Radio Debate PostponedA scheduled gubernatorial debate between Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley and Republican challenger Robert Ehrlich has been postponed.The debate was to take place at 10 a.m. Friday at WTOP. An Ehrlich campaign spokesman confirmed that both candidates will be attending a funeral for Betty Peebles, according to the 11 News I-Team’s David Collins.Peebles, the senior pastor of the Jericho City of Praise, died Oct. 12. The funeral will be in Landover.

Dems, GOP Claim Political ‘Dirty Tricks” Used. Charges are flying about political dirty tricks.On Wednesday afternoon, key Democratic leaders said that Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Ehrlich’s campaign can’t be trusted, while Ehrlich threw a counterpunch.Democrats claim Ehrlich has a history of trying to fool voters. In response, Ehrlich brought up signs that have gone up that have the president’s name on them, even though he isn’t on the ballot.Sen. Ben Cardin and Rep. Elijah Cummings each showed off campaign materials from previous elections that they said Ehrlich used to trick voters.
