Goodwill Recycles Unsold Items. A change of seasons means a lot of people will be cleaning out their closets and donating their used goods to Goodwill, but if those goods don’t get sold, don’t worry — they’ll still go to good use.The Goodwill Recycling Center in Linthicum is where everything that didn’t sell in Goodwill stores or outlets ends up.

Hotline To Help Homeowners Avert Mortgage Scams.  A new mortgage alert campaign launched Tuesday in Maryland is warning area homeowners of the dangers of loan modification scams.As more and more people lose their jobs and their homes due to the economy, there are scammers who will try to take advantage of their desperate situations.At a news conference Tuesday, the Baltimore Homeownership Preservation Coalition unveiled the new campaign with the slogan “Be Forewarned, Not Foreclosed.”

Bay Bridge Makes ‘Scary Bridge’ List. A travel magazine has named the William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial Bridge, or Bay Bridge, as one of the scariest bridges in the world. Travel and Leisure included the nearly five-mile long bridge on its list of more than 20 dangerous and scary bridges.The magazine said drivers are notoriously afraid of the bridge and that it made the list because the Eastern Shore is subjected to frequent and often violent storms.

Conan’s Blimp To Hover Over Baltimore.  That large thing in the sky over downtown today is no UFO. It’s been identified. It’s a blimp. Or maybe a dirigible. Let’s say airship. It’s orange and owed by comedian Conan O’Brien. The former Tonight host is taking to the air to promote his upcoming late night show on TBS. “Conan” goes on cable in early November. The blimp has been on tour across the east coast. The promotion includes an online contest. O’Brien left NBC after a dustup over the network’s failed attempt to move Jay Leno to a 10 o’clock time slot.
