Pedestrian Struck In Pasadena

On October 1, 2010 just before 11pm, Anne Arundel County Police received a report of a pedestrian struck at Fort Smallwood Road and Parkway. Officers arrived on scene and found a pedestrian lying in the roadway with life threatening injuries. The Crash Investigator from the Traffic Safety Section immediately assumed responsibility for the investigation.

The initial investigation revealed the pedestrian identified as, Adam John O’Conner was crossing Fort Smallwood Road in a dark area while wearing dark clothing and was struck by a 2010 Honda operated by Scott Thomas Berenbach of Baltimore. The Honda was traveling north on Ft. Smallwood Road and Mr. O’Conner was not in a designated crosswalk.

O’Connor was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Unit where he remains in grave condition.

The investigation indicated that pedestrian error is the primary cause of the crash, although t police believe that alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
