MD Congressman Calls For Moratorium On Foreclosures.  Rep. Elijah Cummings said he is calling on the governor and attorney general to impose a 60-day moratorium on foreclosures in Maryland.Cummings said he sent a letter on Saturday to Gov. Martin O’Malley and Attorney General Douglas Gansler calling for the moratorium. In the letter, the Baltimore congressman said numerous reports from multiple states suggest lenders may have fraudulently acted to begin foreclosure proceedings against some homeowners. As a result, Cummings said families may have been wrongly evicted from their homes.

Race For The Cure Event Draws Tens Of Thousands. An estimated 29,000 turned out for the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure breast-cancer fund-raiser in Baltimore County. Organizers said Sunday’s event is expected to raise $3 million for breast cancer research and support programs for those affected by the disease.Runners from around the state gathered in the parking lots of the Executive Plaza in Hunt Valley, where a 5K race began.

Verizon Wireless Plans $30M To $90M Customer Refunds. Verizon Wireless could pay out up to $90 million in refunds to cell phone customers who were improperly charged for inadvertent Web access or data usage over the past several years. The Federal Communications Commission had asked Verizon Wireless last year about $1.99-a-megabyte data access fees that appeared on the bills of customers who didn’t have data plans but who accidentally initiated data or Web access by pressing a button on their phones.

Teen Father-To-Be Killed In Edgewood; Man Arrested.  A 16-year-old high school student died Saturday night after he was shot several times in front of his expectant girlfriend, investigators and family told WBAL-TV 11 News.Harford County deputies have arrested Michael S. Jones, 18, in connection with the fatal shooting of Shakir Derrick Wingate, 16, of Edgewood. Wingate’s relatives said he was shot 10 times.
