Fire Damages House In Linthicum. Anne Arundel County fire officials said residents were able to escape from a fire that damaged a house in the Linthicum area Thursday morning. The fire occurred at about 3:20 a.m. in the 6200 block of Medora Road, and officials said firefighters got the heavy fire under control in about 45 minutes.Officials said the fire is under investigation.

Mall Slots Supporters: Yes Vote Will Bring Jobs, Money.   The forces in support of a slots parlor next to Arundel Mills Mall have begun making their case on the TV airwaves, and supporters have just opened a campaign headquarters in Severna Park.Those opposed to slots next to the mall have been running TV ads for weeks and have spent slightly more than $1 million urging a no-vote on referendum Question A, claiming a no-vote will bring slots instead to Laurel Park.

Man Charged In Severn Road Rage Killing Released On Bail.  An Anne Arundel County man charged with murder is currently out of jail on bail, and the victim’s family said they’re furious.Authorities said James William King shot Calvin Yueng, 40, a father of two, while he was sitting at a red light at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Route 100 in Hanover on Aug. 6 in what police called a case of road rage.King, 26, was arrested on Aug. 18, charged with first-degree murder and denied bail.But his lawyer filed a motion to reconsider that decision, arguing that King should be granted bail.

Man Arrested In Annapolis RapeAnnapolis police said they’ve arrested a man in connection with a rape that was reported on Monday.Police said the victim told them she was sexually assaulted shortly after 10 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Southgate Avenue and West Street.Detectives said the woman gave them a description of the culprit, who officers later found on West Street.Police arrested Frank Leon Hall, of Lothian, and charged him with rape, assault and sex offense.He is currently being held without bail.

University Of MD Official Reacts To Fans’ Action At Navy Game. University of Maryland officials are looking into profane insults hurled toward Midshipmen and others from the Naval Academy by fans at Monday’s football game.The first such matchup in a few years was marred by some Maryland fans who shouted profanities, including the F-word, at the Navy team and students, reported WBAL AM’s Steve Fermier. Not all of the bad behavior was from students, Fermier reported.University officials are calling for a revived student sportsmanship committee to foster more positive outlets for Maryland students and supporters.
