Planned Quran Burning Sparks Outrage. A Florida church’s plans to mark the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks is sparking reaction from around the world and warnings from the United States government.The Rev. Terry Jones said he plans to burn copies of the Quran on Saturday, calling his protest “International Burn a Quran Day.” He said he plans to use the event to send a message to radical Islam.”We believe that people are afraid of radical Islam. They’re afraid to confront it,” said Jones. “We believe our president plays it down.”The White House, State Department and Gen. David Petraeus have all warned that Jones’s actions could incite anger, inflame extremism and endanger Americans overseas.

Man Dies In OC Street; Body Found Offshore. Ocean City police have identified a man who died at the resort town, but a second body that was found floating 16 miles off the shore in an unrelated incident has not be identified.Paul Cherenyack, 34, of Sugarloaf, Pa., was pronounced dead early Monday at a hospital after he was found in the 1700 block of Philadelphia Avenue. He was unconscious and people were performing CPR on him when police arrived.Cherenyack’s cause of death will be determined by an autopsy at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore.

Towson’s Early Voting Gets Students Involved. One location where Maryland voters can cast their ballots early is Towson University, and some campus groups said they are hoping the political exposure will get more students to the polls.The student vote was key in the last national election, and there’s hope that it’ll also be that way in local and state races.Voters can cast their ballots at Towson University’s administration building.”My mother is a new resident in Maryland, so I am happy to have a place that’s convenient that we can go and vote together. … It’s in the middle of everything. What’s there not to like about Towson?” said county voter Sue Ford.

1 Found Dead; 1 Injured After Apt. Fire. Howard County police are investigating how a woman died and a man was critically injured after they were found inside an apartment after it caught fire.Firefighters were called to the 6000 block of Majors Lane in Columbia shortly after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday after a neighbor reported a fire to 911. Neighbors told 11 News that they knew something was wrong when the woman’s 17-year-old daughter came home from school and was screaming.
