Governor Candidates Get Dueling EndorsementsMaryland’s gubernatorial candidates are announcing dueling endorsements from New York City mayors. Gov. Martin O’Malley’s campaign announced Wednesday that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will endorse the incumbent Democrat in his re-election race. A short time later, Republican Robert Ehrlich’s campaign announced that former Republican New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is endorsing the former governor.

Heavy Rain Falls After Tropical Storm Dissipates. While many parched parts of Maryland need rain, several inches of precipitation in a short time could pose problems.State and local governments throughout Maryland instructed emergency personnel to prepare for a potential response to heavy rainfall and winds associated with what once was Tropical Storm Nicole.A tornado watch remains in effect until 1 p.m. for counties east of Frederick County, along with Baltimore city. Flash flood watches and coastal flood warnings also have been issued.”We’re expecting major flooding, or at least some sort of flooding with this system,” said WBAL-TV’s Sandra Shaw.

Fisher-Price Recalls 10M+ Kids’ Products. Fisher-Price is recalling more than 10 million tricycles, toys and high chairs over safety concerns. The Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday that two of the products being recalled involved injuries. In the recall of about 7 million Fisher-Price Trikes and Tough Trikes toddler tricycles, the agency is aware of 10 reports of children being hurt. Six of them required medical attention. The trikes – some of which which feature popular characters like Dora the Explorer and Barbie – have a protruding plastic ignition key near the seat that children can strike, sit on or fall on, leading to injuries that the commission said can include genital bleeding.

MTA Riders Can Text Complaints. ComplimentsPassengers on Baltimore’s public transportation system have a new way to voice complaints or compliments.The Central Maryland Transportation Alliance introduced the Rate Your Ride program on Wednesday, which allows riders to comment via text message.Under the new program, riders are encouraged to text the word “ride” to the 30802. They’ll then be sent a short survey about their experience, CMTA officials said.
