First Casino In MD To Open Early. The Hollywood Casino in Perryville can officially open its doors.On Sunday, Maryland Lottery Director Stephen Martino signed the operation license allowing Penn National Gaming to open the casino to the public.The casino held a controlled demonstration on Saturday with about 1,400 people in attendance.

Woman Shot During Glen Burnie Fight. A 27-year-old woman has been shot in the Glen Burnie.Police said it happened at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Roesler Avenue off Oakwood Road.Officers said the woman was shot during an apparent domestic dispute.Paramedics said they took the victim to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with non-life-threatening injuries.Police took a man into custody in connection with the case.

Man Arrested In Annapolis AttackAnnapolis police are investigating a shooting that happened in the Harbor House public housing complex.Officers said a 34-year-old Millersville man was shot there and then drove about six blocks away to get help. Police said officers have arrested Charles Wallace Jr., 40, of Annapolis, at about 3:30 p.m. in connection with the case. He is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and handgun violations.

National Guard Member Sues Election Board. A member of the Maryland National Guard is suing the state board of elections because he said overseas voters have not been given enough time to obtain and return ballots for the upcoming November election.The plaintiff filed suit Thursday in U.S. District Court using the pseudonym John Doe. Doe says he is an officer in the Maryland National Guard on active duty in the U.S. Army who will be stationed in Iraq through January.An organization that said it aims to protecting the voting rights of people in uniform has joined Doe in the suit.The plaintiffs allege officials mailed overseas ballots listing candidates for federal office only by the deadline set in a new federal law designed to protect military voters. They said this prevents them from voting for state office candidates, including governor.
