NE High To Host Soccer Tournament This Weekend

Northeast High School is hosting their second annual Labor Day weekend tournament this weekend with a unique flair.  Northeast has attracted two out of state teams to participate this year–St. Benedict’s from New Jersey and Fordham Prep from New York.

St. Benedict’s is traditionally one of the top high school boy’s soccer teams in the nation.  They boast such graduates as Tab Ramos and Claudia Reyna, both formerly of the U.S. men’s national soccer team (along with dozens of Division I college soccer players).

Fordham Prep is out of the Bronx and has indicated that they will be competitive with St. Benedict’s.  A good weekend of quality soccer is assured!

All games will be played at Northeast High’s stadium.

In addition to the two other schools and Northeast, Southern High School from Harwood will be playing.

DAY/DATE                   TIME             TEAMS                                                      LOCATION

The big attraction is St. Benedict’s coming to town.  They’ve been NSCAA national champs several times and their goal in all sports apparently is a national title.  They graduated Tab Ramos and Claudia Reyna, former US National team players.

Last year alone they graduated 13 players that received college scholarships to play soccer.

The other teams are Friendly from PG County and Southern from AA County.
