Fatal Stabbing In Eastport

Last night at 11:14, police and EMS were called to 415 Fourth Street in the Eastport section of Annapolis for a double stabbing.

From the police release:

On September 29, 2010 at 11:14 p.m. Annapolis police officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Fourth Street for a stabbing. Officers located two males suffering from wounds to their upper torso. One male was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma and the other was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness reported the victims were in the house and for an unknown reason began to wrestle on the floor. The preliminary investigation reveals each victim was stabbed by the other. The motive is still under investigation.

The deceased subject is identified as 54 year old Delbert Ray Townsend, Jr. of Saint Leonard, Maryland.  The surviving victim is identified as 35 year old Charles Heyleck, IV, of Annapolis. Mr. Heyleck is listed is stable condition and is expected to survive.

No charges have been filed against Mr. Heyleck as this case is still under investigation.
