Fatal Major Accident Route 50 West

UPDATE 2: 3:06pm. Police are reporting that one of the patients ejected has died as a result of their injuries and the Maryland State Police Crash Team is on the scene

UPDATE 1: 1:49pm. 4 patients have been ejected. 3 are being transported to Shock Trauma and one to AAMC. Three westbound lanes of Route 50 are closed.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department is on the scene of a major accident on Route 50W at Cape St. Claire Road.  There are multiple vehicles involved including two box trucks–one of which is overturned. All passengers have been ejected.

Two Maryland State Police helicopters were requested but  are grounded due to the weather. There are currently 6 ambulances on the scene.

Expect serious delays.
