Police: Officer Used Personal Weapon To Shoot Dog.  Investigators revealed Thursday the weapon used in the killing of a family dog, as the community converged to pay tribute.Anne Arundel County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy released a statement late Thursday afternoon indicating that the weapon used by an off-duty Department of Defense officer was the officer’s personal weapon.Police said the officer fired his weapon at the Siberian husky named Bear-Bear at the Quail Run Community Dog Park in Severn at about 6:30 p.m. Monday. Since the incident, police have not released the officer’s identity, stating that a criminal investigation continues.

Prosecutors: Trucker Transported Girl, 11, For Sex. A Texas man employed by a Maryland trucking company pleaded guilty Thursday to taking an 11-year-old girl from Maryland with the intent to have sex with her in El Salvador.The U.S. Attorney’s Office issued a statement Thursday afternoon identifying the man as Elmer Zelaya-Robles, 41, of Grand Prairie, Texas. The statement indicated Zelaya-Robles lived sporadically with a relative in Virginia.Prosecutors said Zelaya-Robles, an El Salvadorean citizen, was a friend of the girl’s family. The girl’s parents had reported their daughter missing from their Prince George’s County home during the early morning hours of Feb. 13.

Showalter Magic: O’s Sweep Angels.  Cesar Izturis singled in the winning run in the ninth inning and the Baltimore Orioles remained unbeaten under new manager Buck Showalter, defeating the Los Angeles Angels 5-4 Thursday night for a three-game sweep.Since Showalter made his debut Tuesday, Baltimore has won three in a row and scored 20 runs. Before his arrival, the Orioles had lost 14 of 17 and were averaging 2.77 runs per game — second-lowest in the AL.
