Probe Sought After Dog Fatally Shot At Park. Anne Arundel County’s executive has asked for a “thorough and complete investigation” after police said an off-duty federal officer shot and killed a Siberian husky at a dog park.The federal officer, whose name hasn’t been released, told Anne Arundel County investigators that he and his wife were at the park with a leashed German shepherd on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Quail Run Community Dog Park in Severn.At some point, the unleashed husky named Bear-Bear came over to the German shepherd to play.
High Bacteria Levels Found At Anne Arundel Beach. Anne Arundel County health officials are warning people to avoid the water on Venice on the Bay beach in Pasadena after high bacteria levels were detected there.The county’s Department of Health is advising people to avoid swimming and other water activities at the beach on the Patapsco River after the high bacteria levels were found on Saturday and Wednesday.Officials said many factors, such as waterfowl, rainfall, water temperature and tidal action, can cause high bacteria readings.Anyone who has had contact with the affected water is advised to wash themselves and their clothes.
Man Charged In Semen Attacks In MD Stores. A Maryland man is accused of squirting semen from a bottle onto shoppers at two Gaithersburg stores, and police are looking for other potential victims.Michael Wayne Edwards Jr., 28, has been charged with spraying the fluid on a shopper at Giant Food store in Gaithersburg on July 15. Police said he got the liquid on a woman and then snapped a photo of what he had done with his cell phone.Edwards has also been charged in a similar incident at a Michaels craft store, also in Gaithersburg. Police said they are looking for at least two more victims.Police said anyone who noticed a liquid on their clothes but wrote it off as benign should call them at 301-258-6400.Edwards is free on bond.
Crews Destroy Decades Old Dynamite. State fire officials said 26 sticks of dynamite found in a shed in Elkridge have been safely disposed of.Two Elkridge homes were evacuated after workers came across a box of dynamite while demolishing a building Wednesday afternoon.Crews found the material that looked like dynamite Wednesday in a wooden box in an older building in the 6200 block of Hanover Road and called the fire department.Bomb technicians with the state fire marshal’s office safely disposed of the dynamite, officials said.A Howard County official said the dynamite probably has been there for more than 30 years.
