Car Overturns On Route 50, Injuring 7 People.  A crash Saturday afternoon on U.S. Route 50 injured seven people when a car overturned, fire officials said.Anne Arundel County fire officials said a car overturned at about 2:30 p.m. on eastbound U.S. Route 50 near the South River. The crash temporarily closed the eastbound lanes.A man, a woman and three young children were hospitalized with unknown injuries.Two other people were flown to Shock Trauma.Authorities did not immediately release any identities. A cause remained under investigation.

Woman Escapes Car Fire, Explosion; Husband Charged. An Eastern Shore woman barely escaped an explosion at a gas station Friday night after her estranged husband pumped and ignited gas inside her car, according to police.A statement released Saturday by Maryland State Police spokesman Greg Shipley identified the man as Pernell Clanton Jr., 47, of Grasonville, who will be charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, first-degree malicious burning, first- and second-degree arson and two counts of malicious destruction of property over $500.

Several Injured In Fights At Jessup Correctional Facility.  Several fights broke out Friday night at a state correctional facility in Jessup, leaving as many as eight people injured.”We had several simultaneous fights at Brockbridge Correctional Facility, a Division of Correction pre-release facility in Jessup,” Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services spokesman Mark Vernarelli wrote in an e-mail statement sent late Friday night.

Mexico Wins Cal Ripken World Series. Mexico captured the 2010 Cal Ripken World Series title by defeating U.S. Champion, Ocala, Fla. 7-1 at the Ripken Youth Baseball Academy in Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon. The win marked the 4th time that Mexico has won the championship. They have been in the World Championship game each of the last eight years but last won the crown in 2007. Last year Mexico lost to Forest Hills, Fla. and in 2008 they were defeated in the finals by Tampa, Fla.
