Caregiving Workshop Scheduled

To meet the needs of the growing caregiver population, the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities’ National Family Caregivers Support Program is offering a one-day workshop to prepare new caregivers to manage the care of their older and/or disabled loved ones.

Caregiver 102,” the second workshop in the caregiving series, will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 14, at the Arnold Senior Activity Center, 44 Church Road, Arnold. Caregivers will learn essential home care skills such as how to manage nutrition and hydration and how to successfully bathe a loved one and protect skin integrity. Participants also will observe and practice safe transfers from a bed to a chair or in and out of a vehicle.

The instructor is Mary Fridley, a registered nurse and founder of Gero-Resources LLC. To register for the free workshop, call 410-222-4464, Ext. 3043, or register online at www.aacounty.org/aging.
