Annapalooza Rolls Into Town On Saturday

On Saturday August 28, 2010, Annapalooza arrives in town. The first of its kind, this outdoor music and arts festival celebrates the rich, professional talent of the Chesapeake and mid-Atlantic region. Join local musicians, artists and crafts persons to mark the end of the summer. The event begins at 12 noon and continues into the night, ending at 10 PM (gates open at 11:30 AM).

Eye On Annapolis will be covering this event (as we did for Bamboozle and the Warped Tour), so please check back for coverage, photos, and interviews!

Guaranteed to be fun and entertaining — with a feel that’s uniquely Annapolis — the event showcases 21 bands on three stages, playing various genres from jazz, reggae, rock, and ska to blues, bluegrass, hip hop, and much more. The band line up features a sound for everyone — local legends and headliners Bill Kirchen, SOJA, The Bridge, Pietasters, and Grammy-winning Afro Bop Alliance, as well as The Cheaters, Grilled Lincolns, Bay Jazz Project featuring Justine Miller, Jarflys, Blue Miracle, Skribe, Gary Wright & Leah Weiss, Higher Hands, Pressing Strings, Sweet Leda, Wax, Rhythm Method (featuring the winner of “Annapolis Idol”), Unified Jazz Ensemble, Dean Rosenthal Blues Review, Mambo Sauce, and Annapolis Bluegrass Coalition. Additional talent will perform in between sets, including the always unbelievable feats of the Scarborough Sideshow. Stage one will highlight the young winners of the “Summer of Rock” competition recently held at The Whiskey.

A broad spectrum of art from local merchants will also be displayed. Creative work includes jewelry, ceramics, paper creations, pottery, and silver creations from many of this region’s well known artisans. All vendors will have items available for purchase.

Bring a lawn chair, beach towel or comfy blanket and enjoy the music while sampling scrumptious eats from local vendors and restaurants, along with plenty of beer and specialty cocktails from favorite hang outs in Annapolis. “Absolut Alley” surrounds stage three in an environment that is absolutely Annapolis. Jim Beam, Miller beer, and Red Bull are also featured items.

Tickets are on sale now for $20/per person, and will be available at the gate for $25 if not sold out prior. Tickets can be purchased at www.annapalooza.org (until August 26), The Whiskey (1803 West Street, Annapolis, Maryland) and other sponsoring organizations. An advanced ticket purchase from the website or The Whiskey automatically enters purchaser into a raffle to win an autographed PRS guitar valued at $2000.

Annapalooza will be held at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds

, 1450 Generals Highway (Rt. 178), Crownsville, MD 21032.
