State, City Urge Residents To Prepare For More Heat.  As the state announced its 13th heat-related death, Baltimore city and state officials are taking action to help keep residents safe.Department of Health and Mental Hygiene announced on Wednesday that the death of a Baltimore County senior citizen last week was heat-related.City and state officials are asking all residents to prepare for the hot temperatures that are making their way back into the region.So far this year, there have been more than double the heat related deaths that there were in 2009, state officials said. Three of the state’s 13 deaths have been in Baltimore.

Police: Father Helps Find Armed Robbery Suspects.  A father’s quick response helped Anne Arundel County police arrest three people who have been charged with robbing his daughter at knifepoint.The incident happened shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday in Pasadena.Officials said a 17-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man were walking along Golden Fleece Drive when two men approached them with a knife and ordered the girl to hand over her purse before fleeing in a vehicle driven by a woman.Officials said the victim then went home to tell her father, who went searching and eventually found the driver, 23-year-old Danielle Damerson, alone in the vehicle. US Naval Academy Superintendent To Leave In August.  Vice Adm. Jeffrey Fowler, the U.S. Naval Academy’s superintendent whose tenure was curtailed after an investigation into financial irregularities at the school, will leave in the first week of August, the Navy said Tuesday. Rear Adm. Michael Miller, who will be Fowler’s successor, already has been confirmed to the post. Fowler is leaving a month earlier than planned. “I welcome Admiral Miller to the Naval Academy family,” Fowler said in a statement. “His leadership and career experiences will no doubt serve the academy well in accomplishing its important mission.” The Navy also announced that it found “inconsistencies” in the academy’s procedures for reviewing honor concept violations in the last school year, and two students will be allowed to return to the school. The Navy said the financial irregularities and the inconsistencies in the honor concept are not related, and the Navy emphasized that Fowler did not financially gain by any of the irregularities.

Ravens Announce New Training Camp Autograph Policy.  The Baltimore Ravens have a new autograph policy at training camp this year. Players will now sign autographs for children only after morning practices and autographs will not be available after afternoon practices. Team President Dick Cass said crowds at morning practices have become so large that there have been concerns about safety with people pushing to get close to players. He said now more children will have the chance to get autographs.
