MD Regulators Deny BGE Smart Meter Proposal.  Maryland utility regulators have denied Baltimore Gas & Electric’s smart meter proposal. The Public Service Commission said envisioned savings were uncertain but invited BGE to submit another proposal. Federal stimulus grants would have paid for $200 million of the project’s $482 million cost with residential and commercial customers paying the rest. The PSC said the proposal asked BGE customers to take significant risks in exchange for savings that are highly contingent and a long way off.

NORAD Plans Exercise Flights Over Baltimore Today. The North American Aerospace Defense Command is conducting exercise flights over Washington, Baltimore, Richmond, Va., and northern West Virginia to test its response to air threats.NORAD will conduct multiple exercise flights Tuesday in the early afternoon.The exercise will include fighter aircraft and general aviation aircraft contracted by the Department of Defense.

19 Injured In MTA Bus Crash. Nineteen people were injured when a car and MTA bus collided Monday night.Officers said it happened at about 9:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Patterson Park Avenue near Madison Street.Investigators said a car carrying four people struck the bus, which had 15 people on it.Six city medic units were called in to take the injured people to a hospital. The injuries to those involved weren’t life-threatening.The circumstances leading up to the crash are under investigation.

MARC Train Breaks Down In 90 Degree Heat.  A MARC Penn Line station train was disabled Monday evening, leaving nearly 200 passengers stranded in excessive heat. Halethorpe resident Charles Murphy called WBAL to report that he and other passengers were stuck in the heat on MARC Penn Line train No. 538, which had broken down en route to the Baltimore area.WBAL-AM: Listen To Charles Murphy’s CommentsThe train was disabled at Route 50 and Kenilworth Avenue. Murphy told WBAL AM that the train left D.C.’s Union Station on time at 6:13 p.m. and came to a stop on the tracks before it had arrived at the New Carrollton Station.
