Infant Murdered In Annapolis

Suspect Charged

The Medical Examiner has ruled that the death of the 2 year old girl on Saturday was a result of blunt force trauma and has ruled it a homicide.  Annapolis Police detectives have taken a suspect, Timothy Darnell Height, into custody and charged him with several offenses ranging from reckless endangerment to first degree murder.

The Annapolis City Police Department statement follows:

On Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 7:11 AM APD patrol units responded to 1904 Copeland Street in reference to a reported death. Upon arrival units discovered 2 year old Amoir Faith Turner deceased in her bed. Officers were met by the child’s mother, identified as Kiera D. Smith of 1904 Copeland Street.

Officer’s noticed apparent signs of trauma leading them to believe the incident was criminal. Through the on scene investigation, Timothy Darnell Height was established as a person of interest at approximately 9 AM on June 5, 2010. Height was located at a residence in Newtowne and taken into custody without incident at approximately 6:15 PM.

An autopsy was performed on Sunday, June 6, 2010. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the case and manner of death Homicide by Multiple Blunt Trauma

An Arrest Warrant was obtained for Timothy Height charging him with the following:

Murder First Degree
Murder Second Degree
Assault First Degree
Assault second Degree
Reckless Endangerment
