Annapolis To Vote On Budget Tonight

Mayor Joshua Cohen thinks he has a winner with his proposed budget. He has stated that he has balanced the budget (required by law) without raising property taxes and without laying off a single uniformed police or fire department employee.

But that does not mean there are not cuts. Vacant positions will not be funded, there will be furlough days, some services will be cut back, and some fees will increase.

Of course this all is contingent on the City Council approving the budget which they must do this evening.

The public is invited to voice their opinions and make testimony on the budget at the City Council meeting tonight at 6:30pm at City Hall.  An involved electorate is a good electorate. This is an opportunity to let your voice be heard loud and clear by the Mayor and your Alderman.
