Why do you guys have to bring Lacrosse into the mix…Couldnt you say that he was in a spanish class or something….

Sam…do i believe he should spend the rest of his life in prison no. I do believe he made a conscious decision to throw rocks at people and think he could get away with it. That is not a mistake that is just plain stupidity. Now lets take a minute and think about this…say he would have killed my grandmother would you still be calling it a mistake? 84 years of life taking away because he was too stupid to think before he acted. That would not have been a mistake that would have been a tragedy. As for you jackson all i have heard about this kid is that he is arrogant jock that has no respect for adults (obviously), women or anyone he thinks he is better then. No one can justify what he did with their opinions of him so stop saying he was a good kid it is obviously not true.

this was clearly not a mistake. as a 17 year old myself lets face it, they knew what they were doing is wrong. Even most 9 year old know its wrong to throw rocks at people. Service Academies don;t offer admission to HS Juniors. In fact, many times they require a PG year. And although this is now a juvenile matter, I suspect that if he had any intent to apply for an appointment to West Point, it is a moot point now.

Wade is a good kid, i dont know why you think one mistake should take him down, he is one of the premier lacrosse players in America. he was also going to play at west point and serve in our army. maybe he could use his skills to hit terriosts. God made everyone for a reason. just think…..

when you are 17 your brain is still not fully developed. when you have athletes, who are usually bigger risk takers as kids, they try things just for the thrill without thinking of the consequences or how it might effect others.even i can say when i was 17 i did some things that i look back on and have no idea why i thought that would be a good idea. i can remember my friend letting me drive his bmw and racing another car down the highway going 150 mph. i look back on that now and say what was i thinking. i could have kill both of us with one wrong move. also you cannot comapare the murder of someone with this case where the worst injury was 3 stiches on someones shin.

135 years/life in jail is indeed unlikely and a bit extreme–given Anne Arundel’s penchant for lax justice. But, personally, I take issue with calling this a “mistake”. It has not hit court yet, so most of what we know is conjecture, but it does seem pre-meditated to me. And Sam, what crimes would you consider “mistakes” and at what age?

Let’s take some of the local events. Was the beating death of Christopher Jones a “mistake” made by a few minors? Raszewski when he raped the 7 year old girl?

Certainly 18 does not change much from 17, but by that time there likely is a sense of right and wrong instilled.

If a 7, 8, maybe even 12 year old picked up a rock at the local McDonalds and decided to toss it at a passing pedestrian, I might be inclined to think it was a mistake. But when they are 17, operating their own vehicles, and apparently targeting people, it moves well beyond that realm.

i understand you are upset about your grandmother but the max sentence is 135 years i believe. do you really think someone should spend the rest of there lives in jail because of a mistake they made when they were only 17 years old

The 84 year old woman that was struck was my Grandmother…I wonder how he would have felt if i had thrown a rock at his grandmother! I hope they give him the maximum sentence and i feel sorry for his parents cause he just wasted their money on 4 years of school for him to rot in jail. I hope he thinks about it everyday for the rest of his life.
