Large Fight In Pasadena, Police Shoot Dog

UPDATE, June 17, 2010 10:01am: From the police report this morning:

On June 16, 2010, at approximately 7:55 p.m., officers from the Eastern District responded to the area of Oyster Bay Harbour in Pasadena for a report of an attempted stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers observed a male suspect flailing two large knives in his hands while chasing two male subjects. As officers ran toward the scene, a black pit bull ran toward one of the officers and attempted to lunge at him. Consequently, the officer discharged his service weapon and struck the dog to prevent it from attacking the officer. The officers were then able to immediately apprehend the armed suspect.

After further investigation, it was determined that the suspect was initially involved in a heated argument with an 18-year-old male relative and a 22-year-old acquaintance of the relative inside of the residence. The altercation then became physical and the armed suspect chased the victims out onto Oyster Bay Harbour. Both victims received minor lacerations during the altercation, but refused medical treatment. The suspect was arrested and charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder and multiple counts of First and Second Degree Assault. The pit bull was taken by the owner to receive vet care.
