142 Northrop Grumman Workers Lose Jobs In County

An internal memo provided to Eye On Annapolis indicates that Northrop Grumman will be laying off considerably more workers int he area than initially expected back in March.

Unfortunately, during this time period, the projected workload at these and several other campuses – in particular new product design and development work – has continued to diminish.  After taking into account the voluntary separations, the required involuntary reduction in force totaled 302 positions including Linthicum (120), Annapolis (22), Rolling Meadows (55), Buffalo (54), Bethpage (20), Charlottesville (26), and Ocean Springs (5).  Employees impacted by this reduction in force are being notified individually today by their managers.

Initially, Northrop Grumman expected a total of 375 layoffs and offered an early separation program. 172 employees took advantage of that, however, it appears that Northrop Grumman missed their estimates by more than 100 employees.
