Finally! Last Traces Of Snow Melting At BWI.  The final trace of the record 2009-10 winter season appears ready to finally melt at BWI Marshall Airport.A large snow pile located behind the airport’s hourly garage likely will completely melt this week, an airport spokesman said Monday. “This snow, still remaining here in early May, reminds all of us of the record storms this winter,” said Paul J. Wiedefeld, executive director of BWI Marshall Airport.”I want to again acknowledge and thank the snow team employees at BWI Marshall who worked extremely long hours this winter to clear snow for airport customers. It was a winter that none of us will soon forget.”

Woman Dies During Carnival Cruise Lines Snorkeling Excursion.  Friends of an Owings Mills woman who went on a dream vacation said she ended up dead after an accident during a Carnival Pride cruise out of Baltimore.Carol Olson, 71, and her husband chose to take a cruise to the Bahamas with fellow church members, friends said. The ship left Baltimore on April 25. Olson died on Friday during a snorkeling tour in Freeport.

Lacrosse Player Accused Of Killing Another Player.  A Maryland native and member of the University of Virginia men’s lacrosse team has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a Virginia woman’s lacrosse player who was also from Maryland.Charlottesville police said 22-year-old George Huguely of Chevy Chase, Md., is charged in the death of 22-year-old Yeardley Love, of Cockeysville, Md. Both were fourth-year students.

Sabathia Pitches To End O’s Winning Streak.  CC Sabathia pitched eight strong innings in another sterling start against Baltimore, and Randy Winn hit a three-run homer to lead the New York Yankees to a 4-1 victory over the Orioles on Monday night.Sabathia allowed one run — Matt Wieters’ second-inning homer — and six hits while improving to 11-1 in 16 career starts against Baltimore. The big left-hander also beat the Birds in his previous outing, pitching into the eighth inning of New York’s 8-3 win at Camden Yards last Wednesday.
