Experts: Oil Leak’s Effect On MD Minimal At Most. Maryland officials said if oil from the leak in the Gulf of Mexico reaches as far north as Maryland, the impact is likely to be minimal. Gov. Martin O’Malley and state disaster response officials participated in an exercise Wednesday at the State House meant to test the state’s hurricane preparedness and examine the potential impact of the spill. Officials from the National Weather Service and the U.S. Coast Guard also participated.

Scams Used Craigslist To Falsely Rent Home. The WBAL TV 11 News I-Team has unraveled a scheme that allegedly used popular online ads to target people looking to rent a home, and the investigation has already led to one indictment.Victims told the I-Team that everything seemed legit until it was time to move in.In early March, three vehicles arrived on a street in northeast Baltimore, all carrying people and their belongings and all prepared to move into the very same house, I-Team lead investigative reporter Jayne Miller said.Geronimo Harding told the I-Team that he realized something was wrong when the keys he had been given when he signed a lease didn’t work.

NAACP, Television Networks Join Fight Against Bullying. The battle against bullying is extending to what children watch on television.The popular Cartoon Network will soon include anti-bullying plot lines in a number of upcoming shows.The network will air televised and online content towards middle school students who are among the most at-risk for bullying.Dr. Harriette Wimms helps students deal with bullying through her Mariposa Child Success program. She said she thinks embedding lessons in pop culture is one of the most effective ways to reach adolescents.

Bar Owner’s Wife Accused Of Plotting Shooting Death. Police said four people have been arrested after the fatal weekend shooting of a Dundalk bar owner, including the wife of the victim.Baltimore County authorities on Wednesday said Jaclyn Martin, 29, was charged in connection with the shooting death of Robert Lee Martin, who was the owner of Hops Inn Bar.Also charged were 26-year-old Robert Garner, who is Jaclyn Martin’s brother, and Sturm Riley Davis and Brandon Michael Roth, both of whom are 19.
