Man Jumps To Death From Naval Academy Bridge

UPDATE 7:30PM, May 8, 2010: Our initial report was correct and The Capital was mistaken. From Anne Arundel County Police:

Anne Arundel County Police officers responded to the Naval Academy Bridge in Annapolis on May 7, 2010, at approximately 9:44 a.m. for a male subject lying in the water. Annapolis City Fire recovered the body of a 47-year-old male from Annapolis, who was taken to AAMC and later pronounced deceased after 10:30 a.m. Through investigation, there were no signs of foul play and nothing suspicious in nature surrounding the death. The final manner and cause of death will be ruled by OCME

UPDATE 10:03 AM, May 8,2010: The Capital is reporting that the man survived the fall, was rescued, and was transported to AAMC. Full details were not available to The Capital either.

An unidentified man, reported to be  in his 20s or 30s,  committed suicide by jumping to his death this morning off the US Naval Academy Bridge (MD 450) into the Severn River in Annapolis, Maryland.
