Fire On President Street

2 Alarm Fire Suspected Arson

The Annapolis fire department was called to a vacant house at 1302 President Street at 11:39pm last night. First arriving units saw heavy smoke coming from the building.

A second alarm was called at 11:52pm bringing a total of 50 firefighters from Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, and the US Naval Academy to fight the blaze. The blaze was brought under control at 12:37am.

The fire caused approximately $150,000 in damage and one firefighter suffered minor injuries and was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center for treatment.

State property records indicate the property is owned by Scott Shippy and Carrie Amsbaugh.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be arson. No further details are currently available.
