Annapolis Police Searching For Man

Man Approached Middle School Children

From an Annapolis Police Department release:

The City of Annapolis Police Department (APD) is conducting extra patrols in the area of BatesMiddle School, at school bus stops and in areas where students walk to and from school. These patrols are in response to reported incidents of a man approaching children. Both suspicious incidents involved female students from BatesMiddle School.
Two female students have described incidents where they were approached by a male subject.

One student reported that while she was walking in the 200 block ofBoxwood Road on May 5, 2010, a male subject pulled up next to her and asked her if she wanted to go for a ride.

A second student said that on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 7:30 AM she was walking to the school bus stop at Fairfax Road and Forest Drive when a man approached her on foot from behind and grabbed her arm. When the student pulled her arm out of the man’s grasp, her assailant walked away and left in a vehicle.

The suspect in these incidents is described as a Hispanic male. One victim described him as 30-35 years of age, average height, with black thinning hair. The other victim described him as approximately 6’1”, slim build, wearing a black baseball cap with the letters “NY” on the front, a blue zip-up hooded sweatshirt with white stripes and blue jeans. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a small, dark blue Honda and as a blue sedan with dark tinted windows.
APD is urging parents to be on the alert. Anyone with information regarding these or any other suspicious incidents should contact the Annapolis Police Department at 410 -268-9000.
