The Baysox Beat

Guzman Grounds Flying Squirrels

Baysox right fielder Joel Guzman smashed a home run clear out of Prince George’s Stadium Thursday in the eighth inning of a thrilling contest that saw the Bowie Baysox ground the Richmond Flying Squirrels 5-4. The Baysox benefited from some clutch performances out of their bullpen to record their second win of the season in three games.

Right handed pitcher Chorye Spoone got things started for the Baysox in his first game with the club in almost two years, time he has spent rebuilding his game after he underwent shoulder surgery in September 2008. The Pasadena, Md. native got off to a bit of a rocky start in the return to his hometown club, going deep in to several at bats with a high number of balls. In spite of some control issues, he maintained his composure and only gave up two runs through four innings of work.
